The International, the annual tournament for Valve's Dota 2, featuring dozens of players and millions in prize money, was put on hold today when a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack slammed the game's servers. Unlike the games of the past, played over local area networks (LAN), Dota 2 requires a connection to the internet, making it susceptible to these sorts of online attacks.
Microsoft's Windows 10 upgrade is rolling out to millions of PCs worldwide. 14 million machines are now running Windows 10, but are you still waiting for your upgrade notification? If so, there's an easy way to avoid the line and download Windows 10 and upgrade straight away.
Windows 10 has been available for a couple of days, and 14 million machines have already been upgraded. If you're anything like me and you have a custom PC or you just want a nice and clean install of Windows then you'll want to format and start over. Microsoft hasn't been exactly clear about that process, but I've spent the past couple of days figuring out what does and doesn't work. Samsung today officially announced its next major product launch event, which will take place in New York on August 13th. Galaxy Unpacked 2015 will be at 11:00AM ET on that date, and will likely include the announcement of the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the details of which have leaked extensively over the past few weeks.
Windows 10 launches on Wednesday, and you're probably going to want to update. The good news is that Microsoft has made the process surprisingly painless. Seriously, you just click a couple buttons and everything should be set.
