Automakers around the world use their large luxury sedans as testbeds for bleeding-edge tech — a lot of it is ridiculous, but a lot of it becomes practical (think heated seats) or even required by law (think anti-lock brakes or stability control). Over time, the theory goes, some of those technologies filter down to the more plebeian models in the range.
How tiny is SanDisk's new 128GB flash drive? Well, to our eyes it simply looks like a USB connector with a plastic end-cap — there doesn't seem to be any storage there at all. Regardless of how it looks though, SanDisk says this upgrade to their Ultra Fit series is capable of storing up to 16 hours of full HD video in a form factor "smaller than a dime," while offering transfer speeds of up to 130MB/s.
The much-maligned Wii U has had a pretty good 2014. This year saw the release of both a new Mario Kart and a new Super Smash Bros. on the struggling console, and both are the best in their respective series (not to mention the console's two best selling titles to date). Those games are joined by less-heralded, but still wonderful, releases like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Hyrule Warriors, Shovel Knight, and Bayonetta 2. Two years after launch, the Wii U's lineup is finally starting to take shape. Now, Nintendo is taking one more stab at luring you to the Wii U this year with a fantastic little puzzle game starring one of the company's oft-neglected characters.
The Kinect-less Xbox One is getting even cheaper from this Sunday as Microsoft starts up its Season of Xbox discounts for the holidays. A new $349 price ($50 less than the current $399) will kick in from the 2nd of November through to the end of the year for several console bundles, including the Special Edition Sunset Overdrive white console. This will be across most major US retailers and there'll be similar deals for the rest of the world, though Microsoft hasn't yet detailed them in full. The Xbox One saw a recent price cut in the UK to £329, following on from a similar move in February and underlining Microsoft's determination to match and better Sony's PS4 proposition. The Kinect motion camera isn't being neglected, either, as it's included in the more expensive bundles in the upcoming promotion, which will raise the savings for buyers up to $150.
Highfive: A new device and cloud service that will fix your meetings and video conferences10/10/2014 Even with technological advances in other aspects of our lives, business meetings have remained frustratingly antiquated. Conference calls, which often still take place over traditional landlines, are spent talking over each other, while the first chunk of in-person meetings is wasted trying to get our laptops working with the TV or projector.
