At this point it's safe to say if Apple ever does unleash the Apple Car unto the world, it won't look like what we've become used to driving. In a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Apple designer Marc Newson made it clear that he's less than thrilled with the current state of car design, calling the automotive industry his pet peeve.
There's a thing called the Flash Memory Summit in California, because of course there is. And there, Golem.de reports, Samsung has introduced the PM1633a. It's a terrible name for a wonderful thing: the world's largest hard drive, packed into a 2.5-inch case. It's listed as 16TB (technically, it's 15.36TB), and the best part about it is that it's a solid state drive using Samsung's new 256GB NAND flash as the basis for the storage. As Ars Technica reports, that new flash memory is the key to stuffing more storage capacity into the same space, and it works by stacking the transistors vertically.
Intel is bringing its professional-class Xeon processors to notebook PCs for the first time ever, with Lenovo incorporating the new chips into a pair of hefty machines. The Lenovo ThinkPad P50 and P70 are designed for people who need large amounts of computing power on the go, offering up to 64GB of RAM (the most memory on any mobile workstation, says Lenovo), up to 1TB of SSD storage, and two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 ports for super-fast data transfer.
Windows 8 was bad enough that it forced me — a lifelong Windows user up until that point — to switch my entire family over to Macs. True story. But after seeing how Microsoft has stepped it up with Windows 10 (the Start menu is finally back and Internet Explorer is nearly gone), I’m now interested in giving it a try once again.
If you've followed our guide to install Windows 10 on a Mac then you probably opted for the Boot Camp option. While it hasn't been officially supported, Apple is updating its Boot Camp tool this week to provide Windows 10 support for 64-bit Macs. That includes drivers for USB 3 on recent MacBooks, and the single USB Type-C port found on the new 12-inch MacBook.
