The YotaPhone 2, a smartphone with a second electronic paper display on its rear side, is set to go on sale in the UK tomorrow, December 3rd. It's the sequel to the first YotaPhone, and looks very similar to a prototype from Yota Devices that we saw at MWC earlier this year. The secondary display consumes far less power in comparison to traditional screens, and can be used as a battery-efficient way of accessing social notifications, sports scores, weather information, and other data. The YotaPhone 2 includes a conventional 5-inch 1080p AMOLED screen along with a 4.7-inch always-on electronic paper display; it's unclear whether the second screen is using E Ink or some other technology. As for other specs, there's a Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 2500mAh battery, and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The YotaPhone 2 will be on sale at a pop-up store in London from tomorrow, but there is currently no information on whether it will be available in the US. |
