FLAPPY BIRD DEVELOPER'S NEW GAME RELEASES THIS WEEK

8/20/2014

Flappy Bird developer Dong Nguyen will release his newest mobile game Swing Copters on iOS this week.

Similar to Flappy Bird, Swing Copters' gameplay is based on challenging players to avoid obstacles as they try to control their on-screen character. Moving away from Flappy Bird's iconic titular character, Swing Copters' protagonist is a small person with a propeller hat navigating vertically through hammer-swinging I-beams.

TouchArcade's exclusive preview of the game says it "...captures the 'just one more try' [feel] of Flappy Bird, and seems even more brutally difficult."
Not long after Flappy Bird became incredibly popular, Nguyen pulled it down due to its allegedly addictive nature. It was later made available only on Amazon Fire TV as Flappy Birds, an enhanced version of the original.

There's no word on whether or not Flappy Bird will ever release again on Apple devices, but those who want to play Swing Copters will be able to download it for free for iOS starting August 21.
