Apple is taking its iWork for iCloud apps multi-platform, turning it into a product accessible to internet users on any device, similar to Google Docs. Where previously to use Apple Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, you needed to own at least one Apple device, you're now able to get an Apple ID and access the apps without needing your own Mac, iPhone, or iPad.
Apple appears to be employing magnets or otherwise real magic to lure shoppers into its Regent Street store in London. A new window display spotted there earlier today has a row of upright iPads with Smart Covers that open and close without human interaction, just in case you were unclear what the $39 accessory does.
Not that long ago, Monster made the headphones for Beats. How it got cut out of that process is now the center of a lawsuit against Beats and its co-founders that was filed in Northern California this week. The complaint, which was spotted by USA Today, alleges that Beats co-founders Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine concealed business dealings and slowly cut out Monster and its CEO Noel Lee's involvement on its way to selling to Apple in a $3 billion deal made last year.
Apple has consistently said that the Apple Watch would launch in early 2015, and now we're getting more details on how that launch might play out. 9to5Mac's Mark Gurman (who just dropped a scoop on a potential new 12-inch MacBook Air) is back at it again, this time saying that the Apple Watch will launch in March, with retail training set to start in mid-February.
Apple appears to be working towards a thinner and totally redesigned MacBook. A curiously timed report from 9to5Mac, just as the Consumer Electronics Show opens today with lots of thin and light Windows laptops, claims Apple’s next notebook will be a 12-inch MacBook Air without full-size USB ports. That particular point has surprised many, but perhaps it shouldn’t.
