Brew a customized cup of coffee from your iPad with Philips’ limited edition espresso machine

There’s been an exhausting amount of connected home products at IFA this year, but the Philips Saeco GranBaristo Avanti managed to stand out from the bunch.

Keeping tabs on your home’s air quality is important, but we think being able to make a strong cup of joe without leaving your bed is also a must have for any connected home. Philips showed a concept of the Saeco GranBaristo Avanti last year at IFA, but now their back and ready to bring “the world’s first connected, full automatic espresso machine for home use” into the spotlight…
Picture
Connect the GranBaristo Avanti to your tablet over Bluetooth and you’ll be able to craft 18 different styles to satiate your caffeine fix:
From a short, intense, full-bodied ristretto to a well-rounded filter coffee taste or the perfect cappuccino, you can experiment with a variety of coffee specialties at the touch of your tablet
The Saeco Avanti app not only allows you to share your favorite drink concoctions on social media, take coffee classes, and get tips to help maintain your machine.

Unfortunately, it’s not going to be easy to get your hands on one. So far, only 500 individually numbered units have been produced and they’ll only be available in “premium retailers across Germany, Benelux and Russia for a select time period.” We haven’t heard any pricing info yet, but it’s probably safe to say it’s going to cost more than that Mr. Coffee machine on your kitchen counter.

It may not look as pretty and it definitely doesn’t work with your iPad, but if you don’t score a GranBaristo Avanti machines then you should check out our favorite (everyday) coffee maker, the Aeropress.
