After months of teasing, Angry Birds Transformers is now available in select parts of the world. Gamers in New Zealand and Finland can now sample Rovio’s mashup of fowl and robots, with Canada and Australia set to follow soon afterwards. In addition to a soft launch for its new title, Rovio released a new gameplay trailer, revealing that this won’t be your typical Angry Birds title.
Instead of the standard slingshot-powered shenanigans, Angry Birds Transformers is a 2D side-scrolling shoot ‘em up game where feathery Autobirds blast their way through several background enemies, including Deceptihogs. Set to the soundtrack of cheesy 80’s music, the game’s layout appears to be a bit of a throwback to retro gaming and the Saturday morning cartoon that it’s loosely based on. Angry Birds Transformers will be hitting the App Store on October 15th.
