Apple's caught plenty of flack for continuing to sell iPhones and iPads with just 16GB of storage in 2014, and just as much for the amount of storage needed to upgrade to iOS 8, two things that a pair of customers from Florida are suing the company over. In a legal complaint filed yesterday in California, Miami residents Paul Orshan and Christopher Endara say that the 16GB iPhones and iPads they purchased had less than that amount of usable space, something Orshan contends was further reduced after upgrading his iPhone 5S from iOS 7 to iOS 8.
BlackBerry has struggled as of late, but it’s trying hard to lure users over to its latest hardware. The company today announced that it’s offering a ‘trade-up’ program that could save iPhone owners up to $550 on a purchase of a Blackberry Passport.
Apple’s suppliers repeatedly made mistakes, leading to no sapphire screen for the iPhone 611/25/2014 As you’re well probably well aware, the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus were repeatedly rumored to sport a sapphire display which never eventuated. We even saw leaks of the entire front panel emerge, which never materialized on the final device.
For most of the iPhone's lifespan, it's been effectively immune to malware. There were theoretical attacks and viruses targeting jailbroken phones, but thanks to the tight controls of the App Store, finding iOS malware in the wild has been nearly impossible. If you didn't jailbreak your phone and you weren’t targeted by the NSA, you simply didn't have to worry about catching a virus.
Many retailers have been less than responsive to the Apple Pay mobile payments system. Rather than accept fees that banks charge for making the transactions, Walmart, Best Buy, and others disabled NFC in their stores, preventing customers from using Apple's system (along with other forms of payment). The retailers' solution is a payment system called "CurrentC," and it's an idea that some NFC users aren't so excited about.
