“While our Infinite offering was one of our early value propositions, we have since found that only a small percentage of people use it (only 0.5 percent of our accounts require more than 1TB, and less than 0.1 percent require more than 10TB).”
To coincide with this news, Bitcasa also reveals that it has been upgrading its backend infrastructure and will require action on your behalf to transfer all your content over – this won’t be migrated automatically. So if you don’t transfer your data by November 15, your account and data will be deleted.
Instinctively, this doesn’t seem like an awful lot of time to give users – not only can it take a while to transfer up to 10TB of data (or more if you’re an ‘Infinite’ user), but what if someone is offline for the next few weeks – it’s easy to miss the memo and they could return to find all their files are gone.
For existing users on Infinite plans, they will need to opt for a Premium plan or Pro plan, costing a monthly/annually $10/$99 for 1TB of storage, or $99/$999 for 10TB.
